Are there any nomads here?

I am looking for the next place to live for a year. I`m currently in Austin, and planning on leaving next spring. Probably late April to ensure that finding work is easier . The Denver area was my next stop ,but this situation with gangs taking over apartment complex's , has me rethinking that .

Any suggestions for another city that has mountains near by , and a decent economy ? I`m a trim carpenter so finding work usually isn`t an issue as long as the economy is healthy.

I think any large enough city is going to have crime issues. If it were me, I’d just pick a place that I knew I want to see and give it a go. Honestly I love Salt Lake City a lot too and there is so much to see around utah in general with all the national parks. But I also love the Rockies. There are some smaller towns that are thriving. I follow a gal who lives nomad and currently she’s in Buena Vista CO. She’s says they’re building like mad there too so that might be a good spot with less crime? There are smaller spots like telluride and Ourey as well. Lots of snow there tho i believe.

There is so much beauty to see around the US. I get out and see it a couple months a year but there’s always so much more. I envy you!!

Eastern PA is nice. A stone’s throw from NYC and Philadelphia with the Pocono mountains close by. The Appalachian trail goes through PA too.
